Default Baffles removed

After a few years with no bike I have purchased an 09 Street Glide. Should be here Monday. The previous owner said he removed the baffles for more sound. Is this a good idea? Should I replace the muffler/exhaust? I am open to suggestions.

I wouldn't recommend running without baffles, the mufflers should be replaced. If they were aftermatket then maybe you could get replacement baffles but since they are stock, they are now garbage. You can get a pair of slip-ons or do a full system, it all depends on what you want and what you can afford. Unless you want to go with true duals or 2-into-1, I suggest you keep the stock 09 headers, they work very well. JMO

I had some Vance and Hines on my Road King and liked them. I will buy whatever I need to. I don't think just removing baffles is the way to go. Thanks for your reply.

That is what I did on my 03 Dyna and also updated the air cleaner. Sounded great and ran well also, it was a carb bike not fuel injection.

Give American Custom a call. http://www.americancustom.com/ Maybe they will have a suggestion.

Ride safe and we want to see some photos when you get your bike.

Bob.
