Default Road King or FLHT?

Hey guys....alright, and gals.....can anyone offer me any wisdom on which of these bikes to go with. I'm gonna get an 2007 model for the 6 speed tranny and the larger motor(and cause they are in my price range.) But I'm an older guy that requires a bit more comfort, and one that likes to take long rides. thanks.....

FLHT - the batwing will make a difference in comfort on long rides, plus you can run lowers on it along with a tourpac and it will all fit and function right and provide more protection from the wind, etc...

Not that you can't do it with a RK and not that RK's don't kick ***, just that stock for stock , I'd vote for the FLHT to provide more comfort for the long haul...

The Road King has a windshield which provides comfort as well. Try to test ride both bikes, for me the batwing was too in my face, and I like that the windshield is clear and doesn't block any of my view.

I also like that you can add a tour pak, lowers, and what ever you want to the RK but still strip it down as a cruiser easily.

It's all personal preference.

I have had both and prefer the fairing (and lowers) for long-distance touring. The sound system is a bonus too.

I have both, thought I would never have anything but a king till I got my ultra. way less wind and more comfort on the long hauls more storage and I like having the speedo and gauges up where you easly see them instead of always looking down at the tank I put 40k on the king and you can't go wrong with either but I prefer the Geezer Glide

I traded a FLHTC for a RK. I miss the batwing on the FLHTC, along with the cruise and stereo. I liked not having to look down for the speedo and idiot lights with the Electra Glide.

I have had the RK for less than 2 months and have done more to make it "mine" than I did in more than a year with the Electra Glide. I like that I can go with or without a windshield. Stereo and cruise are available on the RK. Lowers and Tour Pak are available as well. The RK just feels better.

As someone else suggested, try to ride both before you buy.

The FLHT has a radio, which is a plus in my book. No more sore ears with those mp3 earphones. Besides, mounting all that radio crap on a RK makes the bike look hidious.
