So, I'm loving my new Road King...she's a beaut! Problem is an issue with handlebars. I'm just titch under 5'8" and finding i'm reaching a bit--1-2 inches, max. I think the issue is likely pull back--and maybe a bit too low. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for bars--baby apes? beach bars? etc....Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
After a couple of months with the same issue AND after searching forum bought Heritage bars for $60 and love them. They will do what you need at a reasonable price. You could spend hundreds for an aftermarket name but don't need to.
Unless they've fixed the pos stock seat, you will be replacing that soon as well. The bars and seat work as a unit for comfort on long distance rides. Keep that in mind.
My Sundowner seat and Heritage bars were the magic combo,
go back to the h-d store and sit on a heritage softail classic. if the bars feel good, get them. cheap and easy to install. just do a search on the install. good luck as the stock rk bars suck
I've got the WO518's on mine, but I'm taller and the WO508's would probably do the trick for you. I love them. I know a lot have the Heritage bars, but do they provide for internal wiring like the WO's do? I really like having the internal wiring. It really cleans up the look of the bars.

Shel,
Do you like the bars, just not where they are? If so, an option is to do as I did.
I bought 4" pullback risers and a street slammer nacel cap (pn 55854-07.) Installed them last night and it's like riding a whole new bike (99 FLHRCI.)
The Heritage bars are one of the most popular..I just don't care for the lines of them.
