I'am not sure about the 07, but the heat problem with my 06
seems to be cured, with a race tuner and stage one set up.
I'd roll the dice and go for the 07. Bigger is better.
If you lug any of these motors, they all sound bad. ( not a good thing to do )
I traded an 06 Ultra for a 07 Ultra, there is night and day difference in the power of the 96 versus the 88, I have tried to hear a problem in my tranny but I cant hear anything, I put SE slip ons, an SE A-C and SERT and this thing really scoots, I would not hesitate to by an 07
I would go with the 07 but only if I had the opportunity to test drive it. You don't want to own one with the tranny noise issues. If possible, take it out so you can get it properly warmed up and then run 4th and 5th gears as you normally would. You know quickly enough whether it has any problems.
Stash go with the 07. I did and I have no regrets. I love this 07 SG. Heat don't bother me and neither does 5th gear. Yes some folks are having a few problems but the majority are just enjoying the updates and the new ride.
If you look back the 06's had their issues as well....
Get the '07. More torque, some noise, no problem. Install a pair of "No More Fried Thighs", a forum sponsor, and the heat problem will be lessened. If it breaks, get it fixed. If it breaks bad, get a new one. Buy it, ride it, you'll like it.
Get the 06. You can buy TONS of stuff for it RIGHT NOW.....NO WAITING!. Every shop worth 2 cents knows how to work on this engine. Every problem this engine has had, is known, and there are fixes for them all. Worried about resale? It's a Harley, they have the best resale out there. I still say that the last year of a given model is FAR better than the first year of a given model. JMHO......but I was given the choice, no extra charge a month or so ago.....and took the 06. Could have had an 07......but why take the chance?
Well, if ya don't mind waiting, get an 07 and hopefully in a few months they will have true duals exaust out to better your sound, looks and reduce your heat problem or just buy an 06 and have everything already available for the TC88.
Hi Stach, I think I sat on the 06 demo you mentioned. Is it white? If so, I bought an 07 roadglide 3 weeks ago from the same dealer. Glade I went 07.
Had several 06 rg's found but after comparing the two, just couldn't see buying last years model. As far as the 5th gear whine, I would not have even noticed.
