My buddy has a broken swingarm on his '01 Road King and I told him I would see if my HD Forums friends could help him find one. It's a dire emergency because we are to be in Daytona next Wednesday for Biketoberfest. It'll suck for him but he'll have to take one for the team and make the beer runs in his truck if he can't find one in time.

Sounds like you'd have to drill out the pivot shaft hole on the tranny, and of course change wheel bearings, and axle.
If your in a hurry, I would think any welding shop could fab some inserts for the current swingarm to get him by until he has time to swap.
I welded mine & reinforced it & have had no problems.
I thought I had some pics when I welded it but don't see them. I cut some 3/16 strap about 2" wide so they fir on the top & the bottom. Welded the two pieces together & then welded the strap on. Eventually I will upgrade if I get to keep the Ultra, (bankruptcy, a whole other story). I really want to go to a FBI 200mm tire kit. Good luck

You do not need to drill out the trans with my kit, and you should never drill out a trans, ever with a drill!
We made them to stop rear steer in the beginning before 2002 on FL's & FXR's, when the new style swing arm came out. We came out with a different model which allowed a 2002 & above (before the 2009's~current will not work) swing arms to be retrofitted without drilling out a trans. Bolt up after that unless you have a pre 1" axle than you need to buy a new sealed bearing wheel (2002 and later) as well as new rear rotor and possible pulley. The rotor register is 2" on the rear and smaller with Tinkin tapered bearings (pre 2000). Never buy a 2000 or 2001 rear OEM wheel because the axle wheel bearing spacer used for either 25 mm or 1" will not fit inside. DIY instructions are on my web site as will as a 2000 or 2001 OEM rear wheel.
If youre going to go through all the trouble of removing the SA to have welded, just put a new or another one on. Personally I wouldnt like having a welded SA that could break on you.
I have covered upgrading to a later swingarm in my Suspension THUMP thread. I used an 07 swingarm and brake plus an 05 wheel in my 1990 FLHS. Involves quite a few 'new' parts, but all available at low cost on ebay. However this is not something that will get your friend back on the road in a couple of days, unless he is very lucky finding the right stuff fast!
