Really?? Looks good. So, it screwed right in? No modifications required? I might do the same thing.
Wait a minute. Unless he installed a CB on his Street Glide he put that $6 rubber antenna on his radio. Two completely different systems and antenna requirements.
I got the little rubber $6 one at Autozone....works like a charm and looks ten times better on a SG than the tall stock one.
Those 'Rubber Duckies' from 'AutoZone' are for receiving AM/FM frequencies, not transmitting. The SWR on those things is probably something like 10-12:1!!! I use one when I remove the Tour-pak also. They work pretty good.
For Citizen's Band frequencies, a 1/4 wave length antenna is about as short as you could go and still have any range.

Thanks, I called these guys very informative basicly said Harley system sucks the coax and connectors are the cheapest on the market and probably not grounded right the antennas have a female screw in the bottom the only one he has seen on the market like it. I guess this is so you can buy from the MOCO only!! I will be looking into changing the coax and antennas out completely again thanks for the info
+1 on having the SWR tuned, especially when it is tuned on the channel that you use the most. We get many compliments on our sound and range on our SWR tuned, stock whip antennas when riding in long caravans, often chosen to be the back door because of this.
After my riding buddy installed short antennas on his Ultra, we went riding together while listening on our radios to a college football game. It wasn't long before he was hollering at me for the scores due to the fact that he had lost the AM radio signal. Looks isn't everything.
I cant wait to see someone rolling down the interstate with one of those long CB antennae with the tennis-***** on it....
Yep, I remember those full wave floresent orange fiberglass whips!! Might look 'odd', but those 1/2 and full wave antennas will radiate and receive a lot further than the shorter ones!!!

Oh my bad....missed that you were specifying about short CB antennas.
Sorry for the confusion...but yes, the one I was talking about is just for AM/FM radio receiving.
