Cool Just thinking,..

Is there an increase in threads talking about poor quality in HD products ?or is it just my view?...
I had no problems with my past bikes and my 2010 SG has very little miles to say but,im starting to be a little worried about it.

Problems tend to get amplified over the Internet. There are thousands of Harley riders in the world but only few are on the Internet.

Every brand/product has its problems. Just pick one and do an Internet search. You will be surprised... Before Internet, the same (if not worse) problems existed. You just did not know about them...

Just ride your bike and do not worry that much.

I think the majority of the problems are self inflicted. As soon as we get the bikes home we start messing with just about everything about them. Others ride them like they are a carnival ride and cannot understand why they have more problems than their car. I am sure if they drove the car the same way most ride their bike, the car would have drive train issues as well.

If it is treated like a toy, it will have the same problems as a toy.

A new 7 year labor contract means a happy group slapping your new bike together. Hot off the presses from the Journal Sentinel.

"There would be no limit on the number of casual, temporary employees Harley could use at any given time. But they would be limited to no more than 30% of the total, regular bargaining-unit hours worked in a year, according to the proposed contract with the United Steelworkers of America Local 2-209 and Steelworkers Local 460."

"Casual employees would not be entitled to medical or retirement benefits. Their employment could be terminated without cause, and they would not be guaranteed shifts, jobs or a minimum number of work hours.
Casuals would not receive any paid time off. They may be required to work holidays, but they would not receive special holiday pay."

Go off your own experiences and don't worry about the rest. in my experience the ones that complain the loudest are the ones that don't take care of their bikes. they may change their oil occasionally but think that's the extent of a service. Then they complain when something breaks.

Every new bike I've purchased was of a better quality than the last. I thought my first new one in 71 was a good solid bike, but compared to todays bikes, it was crap. I really don't think there is any drop in quality, just the opposite. What I do think is that there is a higher degree of expectations for them and as was mentioned earlier, there are a ton of Harleys out there. With the internet, a problem one guy has with one bike is now broadcast to millions of other riders.
