Default Decision Time - Your thoughts?

I ride an 07 Ultra with 60,000 kilometres (37,500 miles) on the odometer. The bike has V&H true duals, performance touring pipes, a screaming eagle race tuner kit with breather. The bike has operated well save a few minor glitches that have been corrected. I am pleased with the bike but would appreciate more power. I normally ride one up, but on long trips with my wife I ride with a trailer in tow and my son on the back.
I am looking to keep riding the bike for at least one more year, maybe two.
THE DECISION: Is it worthwhile to consider bumping the bike up to a 103 with different cams. Approximate cost here with a reputable mechanic is $3,500 Canadian.
Those of you who have bumped your 96's up to 103's what do you think. Is it worth it or should I wait and trade up to a Limited when I opt to move up?

96 is good enough for me on my '08....Hell,gas isn't gonna get any more cheaper or plentiful,if I were in your shoes and really wanted 103,I'd probably get it along with a new bike to take advantage of the bigger gas tank etc,etc on the new models.

Just get a new(er) bike with the 103 if you can swing the $.
You'll probably do it sooner or later anyway...

Horsepower/torgue cost money. If you dont do the work yourself be prepared to pay.
You will gain power, but also consider having some head work done and possible different cams,pistons,etc- so everything matches.
Do all this if you want to keep your bike.

If you trade/sell your bike, your still gunna pay!

same question I asked myself, should I build up my engine(myself btw) and keep my 07 with a ton of upgrades or trade for a down grade. seriously thought this over and felt I would not be happy with new,but maybe in another 3 or 4 years I will be ready....

I wouldn't spend the money if you're planing on selling in 2 or 3 years. The upgrade won't improve the resale value much. I went from an 88 to a 95 last year, but I plan on keeping the ride.

I have never tried a bike with a 103. The 96 has enough power for me.
I think if I really liked my bike and planned on keeping it for more than one or two years I would go with $3,500 upgrade.
If you think you are going buy a new bike then I would not invest the money as you will not increase the value of your bike if you go to sell or trade. You will only get book value for a 2007 bike no matter how much money you put into it.
My buddy's E Glide is ten years old and he has no plans of ever getting a new bike. He just keeps on upgrading and refining his bike. He can never get his money back but that's not what he is about he is old school and just keeps making his bike more his every year.

If you are only looking to get another year out of the bike, leave it alone. Yo will never get the money that you put into the upgrade back. Buy the new bike as soon as you can swing the funds.
