Anyone have any suggestions on how to tighten up an Ultra's suspension, basically for better handling and road feel? It's a 2009, and the new frame is much, much better than my previous '05 and '07. I'm just stock on the front suspension, with the sport shocks on the back. No complaints about bottoming or anything, I'd just like the feel of the bike (it has 50K miles in 2 yrs) to be a bit 'sportier'...without buying a new ride!
progressive 440 if you want a noticeable upgrade and stock height. 940 if you want street glide height and noticeable upgrade.
if your cutting corners at 90 and scraping the floorboards, go see Howard at Motorcycle Metal for the Ohlins set up. Couple guys on here swear by him and he knows more than I will ever know about suspension.
Replace the fork and shock oil with heavier synthetic one. It is easy (at least the shocks, the forks are a pain) and there are many posts in this forum. The transformation is amazing...
To many sport bikes in my past, so when I came back to a harley for cruising comfort with the wife, I had traxxion rebuild my forks and got a set of Ohlins from Howard. Much much better with good feel, no bottoming, or loss of cornering clearance when entering turns. The biggest difference was getting rid of the horrible sag in the front end when taking off on low speed turns. The only handling ill that I still experience is a slight wallow in the rear on high speed sweepers. In normal riding, sometimes I forget I'm on a 900 lb bike.
