Actually it(the FLHX) isn't lowered front and rear, only the rear is lowered just the 1" due to the shorter shocks, the front is the same as the other touring bikes.

As mentioned before, no need to lower the front. All E-Glides have the same front end. Those 940's are a good improvement over stock for the money and are offered in different lengths as are all aftermarket shocks. You can go with either the shorter SG length or a standard length, it's your choice. If you opt for a shorter model remember to re-aim your lights. Also a shorter shock will deliver a harsher ride due to the shorter travel of the shock.

All I know is you can see the difference between a classic and a custom just by sitting them bar to bar, or tank to tank - whichever.
U can also feel the difference in the ride
Last, I am sure I read it somewhere as I was considering one when I bought my Electra Glide back in 05, just don't remember where i read it.

So, I guess we will see.

I had the same question when I purchased my SG. The dealership owner (an old Harley guy & tech savvy) thought the front was lowered ob the SG but he looked it up in the parts book and they all use the same part # springs, etc. They are all the same height in front.

the only difference between the suspension on the streetglide vs the ultra is the rear shocks. nothing different at all in the front forks, they're identical in height. the rear shocks on the sg are an inch shorter and from my experiences of owning both the streetglide rides much stiffer in the rear. the difference in rear shock length actually changes the rake and trail of the front end geometry, but it's of no significance. slo chicken, if you don't believe me that the front ends are identical look at the parts breakdown. same parts from the axle to the fork cap nut on both models. to the o.p. i'd suggest staying with your ultra shocks, the sg shocks suck. i'm now using a pair of roadglide shocks and it's great to have that additional inch of rear suspension. harley did it in an effort to come up with the "cool look" and because of that the sg's rear suspension lacks travel.

How about Progressive 440s and Ricor Intiminators in the front?I think it would make a nice set up.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all the input, I started the thread, then was sent out without much of my participation.

I understand the harsher ride with the shorter shocks, but what about the add-ons, that allow you to use your UC shocks, but lower the bike an inch. I thought I saw an Arlen Ness kit that allowed for an inch drop, but used factory shocks.
