IS anyone have issues with their CB Radio???? My friends tell me that it sounds like I have the mic in a 70mph wind, a lot of background noise....I've tried two different Harley headsets, and J&M headset and they all produce the same background noise.....
With the HD headsets, I can barely hear my friends through the helmet speakers....volume at or near the highest setting.....
Have a handheld mic ordered and will try that, but I've never had this problems on any of the other Ultras I've owned...
Is this an issue with the new radio (HK) my UC is a 2006...
Have the service guys at the dealership that does your service call HD Technical Services and they figured out my problem and sent a new, modified CB module to the shop to install on my bike.

Did it help with your intercom too?

Thanks guys...no problem with the intercom, just a lot of background noise with the CB use...I could hear the background noise in the HD headsets but when I used the J&M, I could hear what my buds were talking about, sounds like I have the mic in the wind, lot of static....will contact my HD service guys, so far they have been responsive to my concerns with the bike, we'll see.
When the wife and I use different headsets, me using the HD and her using the J&M, see has her volum setting at a much lower setting, me I'm almost all the way up....both intercom, music and cb.....crap!
My brother had the stereo and CB added to his 06 FLHT. He had the same problem. When he took it back to the dealer for the 1000 service with the complaint of excessive noise during transmitting, the mechanic noticed that the antennae didnot have the base coil on the bottom. It was in the mechanics tool box. Problem solved.
I am also having noise problems on the CB on my 06 Ultra.
Intercom is not noisy, but my wife and I have to have the volume all the way up to hear each other, HD headsets.
But the noise or static on the CB is terrible.
With the bike not running and using the ignition accessory position the CB is very quiet thru the external speakers or headset.
Also with the bike not running, I have talked to someone 5 - 7 miles away.
But, when starting the bike, as soon as I flip the kill switch to start the bike the noise is there.
It seems to be associated with the electric fuel pump. It is constant with the bike running.
With this noise I can't talk to another Ultra, brothers bike, that is less than 1/8 mile from me.
I need to take it in to the dealer and have them look at it.
