I had a 05 Heritage Classic prior to the 05 Ultra Classic that I now have. After riding the UC I now wonder what took me so long to get it. When I bought the Heritage I was of the unfounded belief that a full dresser would be too much for me to handle, boy was I wrong.
My girlfriend has an 08 UC and the frame on that is certainly wider. The seat itself is wider. To address that we had a local biker/upholsterer narrow and shave the seat so she sits lower now. I have riden her's both before and after and there was a dramatic difference once that was done.
Got the EG Standard, saving for a FatBob as third bike. The EG is crap to ride around town compared to the Dynas. On the road the EG's are in their element and great long distance rides. If I only had one bike it would be the Dyna Fatbob. If you want to do overnighters, the ElectraGlides the choice. Dayrides, hold on to your Fatbob.

My suggestion's an '08 or '07 StreetGlide,it's lowered an inch and the stock seat's low profile.Easier to handle than the EGlide Standard & comes with a radio/CD/CD-MP3 player.Should be in the mix as far as price.....I like EGlide Standards, almost got one when they were still around, just think you might like the StreetGlide more especially if you test ride.
I went from a 06 Street bob to a 09 EGS and man i wish that i would have done that from the get go. I changed the stock seat to a 09 Street Glide seat and that helps with getting flat footed, also thinking about lowering another inch. Go for the glide its an awesome ride!
I went from a Sportster Roadster to an FLHT. I had the tall shocks on the sporty (13") so I was used to the height, but not used to the weight.
It was tricky at first, and can still be a bit of a challenge backing it up or trying to heft it on an incline, and I still feel a bit abrupt coming to stops w/ a passenger. But strangely enough I find it more stable at low speeds than the sporty.
I miss the lighter weight and the nimbleness of the sportster, that's for sure. This Electraglide is a totally different monster.
The biggest difference, and the most telling is:
After an hour of freeway riding on the sportster, you felt like you had ridden an hour on a motorcycle and are a bit stiff/achy from the wind and bumps.
After an hour on the FLHT, you feel completely fine, almost like you've been in a car.
