Chrome Wind Deflectors
It is starting to cool down, so it wind deflector time...
I've got a RK Classic and my HD Service Manager said some of the deflectors will touch the engine guard bars when you turn stop-to-stop. Inputs? Do yours touch your guard bars? HD wants $65ish and Kuryakyn wants $50.
Anyone had any quality issues with either of these versions?
Thanks...

I had some on my RKC years ago and they worked fine.Cannot speak to the Kuryakyn. You do have to be careful not to install backwards because they will go on that way and hit the engine guard.
These are on my EGC and they don't rub. Don't know if there is that much difference between the RK. You can also get some good leather engine guard covers to help with the chill. If you click on my photo gallery you can see them in the last picture.
I have a set for my RK. They barely touch the crashbars. I've ridden with them off and on and can hardly tell any difference in wind blockage. I got them out of a junk pile at a swap meet for about 2 bucks, so it's not a big investment. I put them on in the coldest part of the winter for the placebo effect.
If you want wind protection get a pair of soft lower crash bar covers. The canvas HD ones are nice and can be installed in less than a minute. I love those when the temps drop below 50*.

I wouldn't be without 'em on my EGC. I leave them on all year round because IMHO they're the best anti-butteting device there is. I like them so much, in fact, that when I travel by air, I pack them because I often rent a RK once I've reached the destination. As the weather gets colder, I add the soft lowers that fit on the crashbar (the quick-release kind); they do a great job of retaining engine heat. Last, I add my taller winter windshield.

The issue I had was with the HD deflectors hitting the passing lights. The lights need to be mounted in the front of the two mounting holes. if thats the case the deflectors should fit no problem. If not, i'll post how to deal with it.
no problems hitting the engine guards at all. suprised a dealer would think so.

I had them on a '95 Roadking and now have them on a 2005 Electra Glide Classic, and have had no problems with they touching. they are great for the air that comes up under fairing/windshield.

I have a pair of these as well, mine also just touch slightly when turned full lock either direction.I took mine off because they seem to catch alot of air gusts from car/trucks passing me on the interstate.I'll probally put them back on for the late fall riding.
