When I told my wife about it, she asked me to describe "root beer"...she said "please tell me it's not brown!" Once she saw it in the sun she was hooked too.
Agreed , tough to really see a color until you see it in person, and even then with these metallic /flake colors they may have two distinct appearances , one in the sun and one in the shade. I also said I would never have a two-tone bike, but hey a bit of break from my Vivid Black. Of course as well all know some colors do suit some models perhaps a bit more than some others, but lots of different tastes out there. Hell, the MoCo paints bikes bright Green & some bikes ,Purple these days, just goes to show, but I think black is always a good fallback option, of course. LOL.
To be honest.. If I was basing my decision to buy that color of bike over the internet I would have to say hell no... But in person that color is gorgeous... It really is amazing how much that color differs in pics....
HD really does a crappy job of photographing colors for their web site.
It blows my mind that they do such a junk job of this, given their on-line marketing business model.
There are a lot of colors that look better in-person. Big Blue Pearl, Sedona Orange, and Merlot Sunglo, just to name a few. I've seen all in person, and ended up with a Merlot Sunglo, but I would never have considered it if I didn't see it for myself.
Funny, a 1,000 bucks or less would get Harley the lighting they need. There's more than one reason why most say they'll buy any color, as long as it's black.

Get home home safe, I hear on the klocks!!!!! they sound great!!!
Krusty, I must tell you that, I have the same bike and the colors are just AWESOME. I purchaced my bike on 9-17-10 and I have about 3,300 miles and have not made any real long trips on it yet and it is really breaking in nicely. I hope you enjoy your new ride as much as I have been. I really wanted to take it out today but it was in the 40 degrees today and some snow was flying, I did get to ride a little yesterday and I will look at next weekend. If the weather is bad next weekend then I will have to put her up for the winter. She will be put in the basement next to the wife's 2008 Street Glide Black & Blue Ice next to the coal stove staying warm all winter. Boy I really do not want to put her away. Well good luck and enjoy. Russell
That two-tone Root Beer is extremely nice...and the tinted re-curve is sinister!
Nice!!
For me, the Root Beer was love at first sight. I bought that 2011 FLHRC and have had no regrets. A while back I bought and installed a RJ's Original Heat Shield that is jewel studded with colored stones that matches the "Fizz" in the root beer perfectly and really shows it off in the sun.
I did my shopping on the internet and my dealing on the phone. I didn't see the bike(or the color)in person till I went to pick it up. When I walked up to the Road King I said "holly ****!".
I just remembered - a salesman at the HD dealership told me he rode one of the '11 root beer bikes home one cloudy afternoon, his wife was working out in the yard. When she came in the house, she said "That is one ugly bike". A couple of days later he rode the same bike home on a sunny day, his wife walks over, admires the bike, and says, "Now that is one beautiful motorcycle!" What could he say and keep peace at the house? He didn't dare say, "It's the same bike..."
