Default 103 motor modifications

I have a 2011 ordered that will be in shortly with 103 motor in it, I will be changing out the pipes (header and mufflers),stage 1 air cleaner , a pc tuner and putting in some bolt in cams, I was wondering who else has done this to a 103 motor, what products did you use and what type of numbers did you get, fuel moto has some packages where he got 98hp and 101 torque, I like his numbers but my first choice would probably be the 2 into 1 Bassani Road Rage or D & D Fatcat over the exhaust he used, any info is appreciated THANKS

I at first tried tw6-6 cams in mine...put about 500 miles on the bike....then switched to se255 cams....MUCH prefer the se255's throughout the power band they pull much better in my bike with my modifications.....

I Agree! SE 255's are hard to beat in a heavy touring bike if your "normal" riding style doesn't take you much over 4500 RPM!

PS: Congrats on the new bike! What ya' get?

I put about 1500 miles on my 2010 limited with the whole "phase one" deal already done...Vance &Hines powerduals and slash round mufflers...K@N air filter setup...HD screamin eagle tuner. Changing the headpipe made a world of differance by itself!
So, i put some andrews cams in it ( who actually manufacture the cams for Robert Woods, or so I've been told ) and have really been satisfied with the complete setup overall. The cams I chose are a mild, touring sort that deal with torque in the 2000-4500 RPM range. At any rate, the bike has much greater, seat-of-the pants umphh and pulling power across the board, compared to the stocker stuff. I am not one to put a great amount of stock in dyno numbers but, it registered 91 and 99 for HP and torque.
You can definately get better numbers and more low end torque with a 2 into 1 pipe/setup and more radical camshafts...my arrangement is good for me...lots of two-up riding with gear in the trunks...longer rides at freeway speeds. This thing give me plenty of zip and effortless passing power when needed.
My only complaints are the sloppiness/clunking in the primary and gearbox. this winter i will get to a new compensator and look into improvements to the clutch setup.

Enjoy your new ride. If you're like me (and most of the folks I read about here)...its always something you are gonna find you want to improve on. It never ends.

I went to the dark side and ordered a 2011 FLTRX Road Glide, had my Classic since 2001 and said I'd never get rid of it, I love the bike and am not sure I'm doing the right thing but we'll see, on my 01 I'm at 96 torque and 101 hp with lot's of work, hoping to get close with the 103 motor without doing head work

103 with heads from Bean at BigBoyz, Andrews 54H cams. SERT tuned. True duals (Bubs7). 96HP 120TQ. 100 Tq at 1500 RPM's. Getting ready to stick the Andrews 54 cams in my 09 SE Fat Bob.

I went with SE everything including the 255s... and am very satisfied. The 2010 SE Exhaust is actually Suppertrapp.

Dan Baisley suggested that I stay with the 255's in my 103 with his Superstock heads as I wanted the torque at the low end. Doing the build 1st of december...anxious to see what it feels like!
