Default Antenna options?

I have a Road King with a removeable tour pack and detachable fairing. The fairing has an internal antenna and I am not real happy with the FM reception. Are there any diffences between the antennas? Has anyone solved this problem?

I have the J&M fairing antenna and it performs a bit better than others I've tried, but it is not even close to the stock antenna on my tour-pak. The one thing I like about the J&M is the "Y" connector that let's me use the stock antenna when the tour-pak is on the bike.

They all do ok when in town but lousy for fringe reception.

I have the dakota digital powered antenna under my fairing. Love it.

I have had many in fairing antennas and I now have the J and m ,they all suck,my buddy has the Dakota digital and it sucks also, good around town, like the other member said, the J and M has a y so I now run a shorty in addition to the J and M ,and together my reception is close to the stock whip antenna.

Thanks for all the replies. I looked at the J & M but it says it wires into the factory harness, but since I have an aftermarket fairing I don't have the harness. I am going to try the Dakota and see how that works for me.

Thanks again

Save your money and buy a Tune Trapper, works as good if not better than Dakota dig and costs half as much.

The J&M plugs into the back of your radio then has an additional female connector to plug your stock antenna into. If you don't have a stock antenna then you just don't use the extra connector. It should work fine on your bike.
