Default Fairing antenna

I have a 2010 FLHX, didn't like the look of the OEM antenna so I had the dealer install a "booster" antenna in the fairing. It works great as long as i'm within about 15 miles of the radio station tower but anything further out...nada! I'm looking for something better...any help is greatly appreciated!

When I made my Tour Pak removable I installed a J&M fairing antenna for AM/FM/WX. It works ok for local stations but not well at all when you get away from the metro St. Louis area. From what I can gather from talking to other users it works better than most fairing antennas but it still isn't a good substitute for a real whip antenna. I understand that their fairing CB antenna is even worse.

I'm probably going to get some sort of antenna relocation kit to use the stock one for AM/FM/WX and skip the CB when the Tour Pak is off.

I have the fairing one plus I put a Y splice in it so I can still use the short antenna on back, even with both on I get better reception with just the whip on,I live out in the sticks but even out on the road its hard to p/u stations unless I put the old whip on.

My in-fairing antenna works ok for what little I use it. I use the XM 95% of the time.

I've been doing a lot of reading in various forums. My booster is actually attached to the side of the radio by a very aggressive two sided tape about 1/8" thick. I've read that the booster MUST be at least 1/2" from any metal to work successfully. I think I'll try this before making any major changes. I thank you for your comments! XM might be the best way afterall!

I have a J&M flex antenna that I will ship for $50. I ended up using the stock whip. I have low areas out here that nothing works

I used the Hogtenna and had absolutely NO problems with it. It worked as well as the stock antenna

If you move the antenna inside the Fairing, you will loose some signals. But the looks are great.
I too, use a Satellite Radio (SIRIUS), and only listen to Terrestrial Radio 1% of the time, if even that.
It is the best when riding cross country. I don't need to search for a station every hour, as I move out of range.

I have the Dakota Digital hidden antenna and I think it works really well, but a little pricy at $75. My Indy has installed a number of different types of these and he said the Dakota Digital one he installed for works the best so far, at least in his opinion.
