Default Saddlebag Removal

Would like to remove the hard saddlebags on my 2009 FLHP to observe where I'm going to rout wires for an LED insert. Haven't been able to find a link for instructions on removal. Have searched here but nothing comes up. Would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance. Oh, don't have a manual as I don't plan on doing much servicing on my own.

Open the bags and pull out the pins that hold it on the bike. You pull the pins out from the inside of the bags.

Turn them counter clockwise. They come right out.

When done, don't force them back in, they can break.

I think they put that in the owners manual. Doesn't everyone remove their bags to clean behind them?

After breaking 2 of them I have removed the HD kit and use these items: Washers, Clevis Pin and Hitch Pin, for a strong, quick release option. Also good because you can't remove the bags with a common screwdriver, unlike the stock kit. Good luck with your project OP.

O.P. has a cop bike. Fastening system may be different than all the civvie answers already given.

I'm sure someone with similar bike will chime in soon but a call to your nearest H-D dealer should get the answer.
