laced wheel has the classic good looks but thats about it. they sometimes have to have spokes replaced and you will have to use tubes. just the opposite with the disc wheel plus the disc does not allow air to pass through which could cause some stability issues at high speed.
Only you can decide what you like with respect to looks. Personally, I hate spokes, but that's just me. Looks aside, here are some other considerations:
1. Spokes are a lot harder to clean
2. Spokes need to be tightened regularly - it can be dangerous if you don't do this.
3. If you get a flat with spokes, you're stranded because the tube needs to be replaced. No fixing it by the side of the road with a standard flat repair kit. Once my buddy got a flat at 2:00 in the morning in the middle of nowhere in an Arizona desert. We were coming back from Utah at night to beat the desert heat. We were able to fix his tire right then and there with my flat repair kit because he had cast rims (no tube). If he had spokes, we'd probably still be there, or at least our skeletons.
4. Another note about flats. If you get a flat with spokes, it can be really scarry. The tire goes down almost immediately, with little or no warning. With a cast rim (tubeless tire), the air usually goes down gradually and you have plenty of warning. I do a lot of long distance touring, and there is no way I will ever run spokes.
Quite frankly, I don't care much for the looks of the SG black wheels, and somewhere down the road mine are comin off. I like the RK Custom slotted wheels better without the black in em.
If I were doin it again I would either tell the dealer to put on RK Custom wheels or I'd order some nice custom wheels and let HD keep them black ones. They should offer some other choices from the factory besides black slots and laced.
This is why Spokes Suck!!! 100.00 flat, compared to 50cent plug, half a day to get fixed and back on road, compared to 10 minutes, plus harley adds 450.00 to your price for them, thats 3 sucks in a row added features, spokes have been knowmn to break on large touring models, get out of round and rust. Why would anyone want them?
Come on Branded, I can really appreciated a cool custom rim, but the black 16's look good on a BLACK Streetglide. Stock spokes just ruin the hotrod bagger look of the SG.

Cowboy,
That's exactly how I feel. I've been toying with the idea of putting on the RK Custom wheels myself. I had a 2004 RK Custom and I absolutely loved those rims. The chrome looks so much better than the flat black.
