This was an easy swap, and you're posting makes it a 'no brainer' for others. Here's a picture of mine (2007 RoadGlide). I was gonna have it painted to match the mirage orange, but I kind of like the orange & black contrast.
I'd add just this; I didn't drill any holes, just used the 3M body tape. After 2 riding seasons my fascia has sagged a bit. I don't think anyone but me could notice it but me. I may redo it this winter in the garage. There is a very small gap right above the tri-light and below the fender edge. If you use the body tape, put as much on in this area as you can.
Great post. I did it the same way on my 2005 Road Glide. But I added license plate holder under the tail light, eliminated the antenna (Dakota Digital in fairing) and cut off the cross bar. Then the back is really clean, curve of fender from seat to tail light completely unobstructed. I will work on getting a photo posted.

If I moved my plate to below the taillight, I'd have to buy a different BAL at $250. They make two models depending on where you mount your plate.
I'm going to keep my bike in "Ultra" format for now with the TP mounted permanantly rather than making it detachable.
Guys and gals, Please PM me if you have questions about this upgrade.
I did the same upgrade to my 07 RG and I just did it with my 11 RG.
Both upgrades are very similar except for different fascia part numbers for the pre-09 bikes. The fascia changed when the rear fender was widened with the frame change in 09.
Paint is also an issue since factory colors are limited to the colors that are offered for the Street Glides only.
Just ordered the parts today. Dealership has half off on labor for installing accessories this winter. I gave them your installation instructions (thanks for writing them up). Parts are 15 percent. Plus I have more than enough points on my loyalty rewards to pay for it all free!
Just a note, the complete part number for the pin housing is 73103-96BK. There was two parts with the number 73103-96.
Edit: Correct part no. is 73153-96bk.

Sounds like a great deal. Please take a few pictures after you get it back.
