Default Replacing Rear Shocks

I have an 04 Road King Custom. The guy I bought the bike from had a custom shock setup that I'm not in love with. Anyhow, I've ordered 54565-09 shocks to install and I'm still awaiting their arrival.

My question is have any of you installed the newer shocks on the older frame and if so were there any issues? Will I need any spacers or other items for the install? Are you happy with the newer shocks?

Thanks,

WVUltra installed 09 shocks on his 07 (same frame as your 04) without any issues or additional parts needed.
