Dont say its not so if youre not sure. My son has an 03 FXDL with dot 5 and his friend has an 05 Nightrain that should have had dot 5 in it but the previous owner put dot 4 in there, and the respective service manuels state that 5 is the correct fluid.

I just replaced my rear brake pads on the 08. Not much to add except I gently levered the pistons in first with a screwdriver and then a socket extension. It's not elegant but it works.

+1 on a thorough cleaning of the caliper and pistons. All told the brake pad replacement took twenty minutes.

Did you come up with a solution and get it resolved? I cant wait until I install my Brembo calipers, to change you pull 1 clip and 1 pin pull pads and drop in new ones. Done!

Tomorrow. It's a buddy's bike that I'm doing the service on. He's on a trip so not in a hurry. I've changed many pads and haven't had a problem until now.

Thanks to all for your tips. Mission accomplished without dropping the wheel.
My problem was that I removed the old pads without sufficiently pushing the pistons
back.
