I'm 6'3" with a 34 inch inseam and I'm trying to decide on a windshield height. There's a guy on CL selling a Klockwerks 8.5" dark tinted wind splitter style recurve for $75.00. Do you think this is a good height, and a good price?
IF you are already set on your seat height, then you could give that a shot- it may be too low, if so, you should be able to move it on to the next guy.
I think you would enjoy a8.5 Klock Werks, thats what i have, and i have had 4 different ones on this bike and like it the best and for that price you can always sale it if you dont like it.
Klock Werks shields look good and do give a lot of down force which helps but they don't give a lot of protection for distance. I'm 6" 1" and ended up with a 8" Clearview with a recurve at the top. I look over it not through it which is what I like, noise level is low and good wind protection. 1,000 mile days NO Problem ! Just my opinion
Go put it on and try it. Give the guy a deposit and install the KW. Be sure you run it up to speed. For comparison, I'm 5'10" and run the 6.5. I tried the 8.5 and could not see over it. I would think the 8.5 would be perfect for you. I love my KW shield.
I just put the 8" clear view on my '09 SG with stock seat and I'm about your height. No more wind right into my eyes that I was getting with the stock windshield...doh. Tonight it felt like the wind was hitting just at the top of my baseball cap at about 50 mph. As mentioned, somewhat subjective, but if you want minimal wind I'd go with a 9".
I currently have a 8.5" clock werks.Rode 15,000 miles with it. I normally look over it when I ride but, if you duck in the rain you're screwed, very distorted view due to the curves on the sides.I am going to put on a clearview 8" re-curve with smoke/light tint. I would not go dark or black tint. Short story, my brother put a dark shield on his brand new S.E. Road Glide. We were putting (riding slow) down the road together in daylight and I watched him run over a LOG in the road! He never saw it thru the shield. Didn't crash but, that shield took a dirt nap when we got home.
