Default indexing spark plugs

Does anybody index their spark plugs when installing them? I know you probably can't notice much of a difference, but I was just wondering who does this and if anybody actually did see a difference?

Put em' in, snug 'em up....and drive! Only way to check indexing is on a dyno....the benefit on a street TwinCam would be minimal if any.

Tried it once on my previous ride (1972 Bonneville).

Didn't notice a difference.

Same here. Tried out of curiosity, never saw any difference. But then again, after I wax my bike it appears to go a bit faster, cause of less air drag! :-)

I feel faster after a wax job and an oil change every time.

The benefits of plug indexing may be so small that you probably would not be able to tell any difference. Won't hurt anything but you may rather spend that time riding.

It's not worth the time it takes to do it on a street bike.

Honestly, its sort of a wives tale.

Drag racers run very close tolerances and domed pistons, especially Chevy motors with large chamber heads.

With that, the electrode can actually hit a piston, requiring the need to index the plugs for clearance. This evolved into logic that it gained power

I have never seen a power increase and consider it a waste of time, especially in a motor with good quench and lots of turbulence, the flame front moves very evenly and will burn complete wherever the ground strap of the plug is

I suppose in theory, if the chamber was inefficent and very "un-turbulent" you may want to point the open area to where the fuel stalls, but it'd be a guess to WHERE to point it LOL

You will notice better performance by running the corect tire pressure than indexing the plugs.
