Not sure what ur budget looks like but Craigslist is loaded with deals. I've seen 05's for 10-12K. Heck here's a 2001 asking 8k http://florencesc.craigslist.org/mcy/2085609554.html & a 2006 for 12 http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/2048334061.html

Literally TONS of STEALS on Craigslist!

I would have to second that. Keep looking, your bike is out there somewhere, and at your price. I picked up a 2009 Road Glide, 6XXX miles, still under warranty, with a decked out Tour Pak for a really decent price. Everyone says I stole it when I tell them what I paid. Found it on Craigslist up in Milwaukee (I live in St. Louis). Even with going to get it and trailer it home, it came out exceptionally well.

This is the site I used to find it;

Good choice; the quality of the brand and the fact that the MoCo is more under the influence of the bean counters keeps me from buying new. IMHO, the MoCo is almost in as bad shspe as it was when Willie G. bought it back; but I digress.

IMHO, the 2002 FLHT, standard Electra Glide is the year and model to get. Strong bottom end with Timken crank bearing and forged crank; the Delphi EFI (if an EFI model) was much better than the MM system used in prior years; a carbureted bike would be even better; the cam bearing issue had been addressed; the rear axle size had been increased and the five speed tranny is bullet proof.

Increase dispalcement to 95", BigBoyz "street" port the heads, bolt in cams, good exhaust, fuel management or adjustable ignition/rejet depending on whether EFI or carb and it will run circles around the later 96"ers; fully port the heads and go with bigger cams and she will run circles around the dealer 103" builds. It handles well and will take a 140mm rear tire with no work and a 150mm with some work. Strip it down a bit, lower a bit and she will pass for a street glide. They are fine motorcycles.

I recently rode a 2010 Streetglide, just toying with the idea of buying new and walked away knowing that I wouldn't trade my 2002 FLHT straight up for the 2010 or my 2005 FXSTD. I most likely won't ever buy a new Harley; I like the older ones too much. If you keep looking, you can find a 2002 FLHT with 25K miles, or less for a reasonable price, upgrade as outlined above and you will have spent less than purchasing new.

Good luck with your search and purchase.

I realize you're across the map but if I was lookin to buy a road king..........this would be one I'd seriously be looking at.

I think you're in the right ball park though. The '98 EVO engine, as has been talked about here, is one of the best. I'm always watching craigslist and ebay, just to see what's out there. Definitely a buyers market.

I fell into Harley lust with this one........until it went a bit too high...

30k and the reserve's still not met??????????? Dayum, WTF.
