Default removing SE Heavy Breather

08 Road Glide, last year at this time i did stage 1, heavy breather, SE Performance slip ons, SERT and tuned. i used the compact heavy breather in anticipation of adding glove boxes to my lowers. just bought the glove boxes, installed them in lowers now. compact heavy breather will not fit road glide non vented lowers with glove boxes so i have to replace the heavy breather with stage 1 air filter set up. looking into chrome backplate and k & n filter. my question is do i have to retune or am i ok

I think you'll be okay. I had the Ness Big Sucker with K&N filter, etc on my prior bike. Changed to the Heavy Breather A/C and didn't like it so went back to the Ness B/S and K&N. Didn't need to change the tuning at all either set-up.

I have seen a couple bikes at rally's and shops that had an illuminated air cleaner. It is round and the lights give the air cleaner a tunnel look. I am not a fan of the glitzy neon lights on bikes but these are super cool IMO. I tried to Google them but not coming up with anything. If I were to change from my HB that is what I would be looking for.

I think you'll find this breather on the Kuryakyn site.

i was also thinking of the Screaming Eagle Ventilator. the parts book says it's for 2009 / 2010, when i asked the service dept. they could not say why it would not work on a 2008. if anyone has instaled a ventilator on a 2008 touring bike i would like to hear about it.

I haven't installed one on the 2008 bike however I almost installed one on my 09, had it mocked up any everything and decided I needed to go another route. It looks like a good kit and had i not had a larger TB I would have went with it. I didnt see any reason it wouldn't work, it has the same bolt pattern as the stage one kit part #29260-08, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

i think it may have to do with epa stuff..... i've seen a couple of se parts that say in the description 'street legal on 09 up' and 'not street legal for pre 09' type disclaimers.....

in the instructions, it says:

This Screamin' Eagle Ventilator Performance Air Cleaner is
intended for high performance applications only. This engine related
performance part is legal for sale or use in California
on pollution controlled motor vehicles
. Engine-related performance
parts are intended for the experienced rider only.
but i would still wait to hear from someone who has done it to be sure.

I don't get this, unless it's changed or like scratch says, epa crap, cause I have one on my bike and got it right when it was released in '08.
