Default Normal volts

Hey all. I have a 2010 sg and the voltage gauge reads a little above 15. I was wondering if this was about normal? I recently added led signals and a load equalizer from custom dynamics. Could this have anything to do with it seeming high? Thanks for any help.

Normal. Some have readings of 16. Gauges may not be necessarily accurate either.

Good, but now I can't justify the chrome regulator based on that one...

alittle high but with the leds you are not drawing as much , normal is about 14.4 , could get a multi meter and test it , gauge could be reading high

Never trust a Harley gauge especially if it is a voltage, fuel, oil pressure or temp gauge LOL.

Yea them gauges are not known for there accuracy. Mine reads 14.5 sometimes 15. Gauges are probably made in China.

suggest you put a digital voltmeter on the battery ( or trickle charger pigtail if you have)- and confirm voltage at the battery with motor running.

Regulator should keep below 14.8 VDC.

If your voltage is higher, you are looking at cooking your battery---maybe some very expensive engine management electronics.

If your voltage at battery is fine, then you know how much to subtract from the voltmeter reading to be accurate.

my current ( pun) ride is 100% accurate, as is my 88 FXRP. ---- the '95 FLHTC read 1.6 volts low, even after I wired the meter directly to the battery- previous with the stock wiring it read 2+ volts low. depending on the stock wiring and accessories used at the time, voltage drop in the stock wiring can give odd low readings.
