21" Tire Size Diameter Increase?

21" Tire Size Diameter Increase?
By going to a 21" wheel, can I expect the overall tire diameter to increase? I expect it may be somewhat different for the various tire manufacturers but am trying to understand if it will elevate the front end of my bike? Thanks

Well stock is 16, 17, 18, or 19, depends on year and model to which you did not specify. Think about it, 21 is just a bit larger, dont ya think that will change the diameter of the tire as well? Of course it will, take half the difference in diameter of your tire and the 21 replacement and that will give you how much it will raise your front end. Figure at least 1 1/4" raise, thats why many guys lower the front end after installing the 21s.

The 21s range from 27.8 to 29 compare that to stock which is 25.5, so you're going to have to do something to make up for that increase. I prefer 18 or 19" since they stay within a 1/4" of same diameter.

If you go to a web page like tirerack.com you can look at charts that will give you the outside diameter of the tire you are looking at. You will see that the 21" with it's low profile side wall isn't that much taller than the stock harley 16" tire. I lowered the front of my bike because I need all I can get at 5'6".
