ok I know you put a tender on to keep the bat charged and to keep it from sulfating while not being used , what about gell batteries as I plan on going to them as needed

I have owned several bikes and always left them plugged in during the winter with the Battery Tender. Never had any type of issue and my bike is ready to go when I am. The Battery Tender is designed to function as a maintenance charger. Using it any other way negates its purpose.

i plug mine in when i know i'm not going to be riding it for a week or longer. and of course, during the cold months of winter. other than that, the tender is unplugged and stored.

I'm in my shop/shed almost every day, when I turn the lights on I power up my chargers too. I just don't feel comfortable leaving 110v plugged into a charger leading to a battery. Anything could happen between these 3 points of contact, although the stats are in your favor I just choose not to chance it.

Maybe its not the best solution for my tender and battery but I have had bikes all my life and I rarely have to buy a battery. Sure, maybe I have to buy a battery or tender a couple years sooner but the cost is worth my piece of mind.

Ride Safe
or in this case Charge Safe
Me too.....My tender is very warm to the touch, not gonna leave it plugged in....its just me.

Every time this topic comes up, there are about 95% that say that they leave it on and the other 5% that are spooked by leaving it on... for those 5%, save yourself some money and just get a charger.

To each their own, but I keep mine plugged in all winter and typically plugged it in between rides during the riding season. It is made to be plugged in all the time, this is what differentiates the tender from a charger. And, as many have said, it will really extend the life of your battery.

Gell batteries are not amune to sulfating. You may want to buy AGM or absorbed glass mat battery but you still need to charge it when not being used. What is your reason for needing a gel do you fly your bike on planes or somthing?
