$1400.00 is a rip-off. I did mine and relocated the front turn signals in 5 hours. Even if I did have the $$ to pay someone to do it, I still would have done the job.
But I'm retired and have mo time than $$!
My dealer quoted me $600 to install internally wired mini-apes, chrome controls, and braided lines. That's still too high for me, and I'm considering doing it myself or having an indy do part of the work.
$1400 to install mini apes! Is this high or am I. Guess I'll do it myself if I ever get time, unless someone knows a good indy around dfw.
Need to be more specific. Does that price include bars, wire extensions, extended cables and labor? What type of bars, cables? Even if your parts are high end, it seems a little high but not too far off.
DIY, its not that bad if you do some research and take your time, save $$$$ for that next big trip.
I just picked up a NEW set of 14" LA Choppers apes on ebay for $60. Priced out cables new from J&P for about $120 (plain black vinyl...not into braids).
Way too much, these guys are crooks. I paid to have mine installed and it was less than half of that. Doing it yourself is obviously the cheapest, but if not get someone else than those crooks.
last summer my wife had the mini apes, risers, cables, and brake lines, etc. taken off her Fatboy and installed on my daughter's Fatboy and had 14 inch apes and the componets installed on her bike and the indy charged $900.00 labor for both installs.
