Default Replacing the engine guard

I want to swap my stock engine guard for the mustache type. I was wondering is it as simple as just changing it out with the 3 bolts? Is there a torque seeting to tighten the engine guard to. Sorry for a basic question, but I'm not sure what all goes into this.

Easy. Just un bolt and re bolt. Tork?? Just get em damn tight. Seems to me you dont have much wrench time.. ifn your not comfy doing this, take it to the shop.. might wanna cover fender with blanket just in case you slip.

one thing you're going to need to have is a torque wrench and blue loctite. you'll use it a lot if you end up working on your bike. the moustache crash bar will have the specs included in the box for the torque values. it's an easy swap.

Just make sure that the mustache guard is not year specific like the engine guards. They changed the top tab on the engine guard when the frame was redesigned from a square to triangular shape, so make sure this isn't the case with the mustache guard as well. Other than that it's straight forward.

FWIW I put one on my bike and thinking of putting the stock one back on. Personally I like the Lindby better but have seen some more exotic ones. Just can't remember the company.

One thing to consider - will you ever want fairing lowers on your bike? Might want to hang onto the stock ones, just in case. Changing to mustache bars is simple job & engine guard screws are torqued to 15-20 ft-lb.
