Default Help with Road King

Ok here goes, I have an 01 road king police. How do I tell if its an 88ci or 95ci? Dealer tells me that almost all police bikes came with the upgraded engine size. How do I know for sure? Thx fellas.

Easiest way i know is pull the plug on one of the cylinders and start filling with oil. measure the amount then do the math for volume (which i don't know as math was my worst subject in school). But that should give you an idea of cylinder size. You might do a search on here as i think i remember someone else with the same question.

Try calling the MOCO with the serial#
They should be able to tell you.
Is the displacement on your registration?

the engines in that year were 88. it could have been bored to make it a 95. but i think all of the production models were just 88.

u might be able to tell by looking at the top of the piston through the spark plug hole. Is the piston dished? domed? flat top? any markings of any kind? Get ahold of a lighted bore scope to make it easier to see into the cylinder.

hey welcome to the forum bobby. if you know who was the original dealer who sold it when it was new, they may have records if it's been converted to a 95". that's if it was done by them of course. i'm not sure if the vin# would relate to a history of the bike through harley, but someone in here might know.
