Default Accessory plug: 2-pin, 4-pin?

2006 Ultra Classic
My Acc. plug has two wires into it. I see references to others with four wires. Was this configuration changed over the years? If so, what were the other two wires for. I am going to be connecting my Electra Glo saddlebag light rails soon and I wondered if I need to know about this.

Thank you.

My accessory plug has 4 wires in it. From what I have figured out, one is ground, one is constant on, one switched, and one for brake.

The accessory connector hasn't changed, at least through the '10 model year since my '04 is the same. It will have four wires: black, orange, red/yellow, and orange/red, and function as described in the previous post. The wires will be in a black four wire connector.

HD uses the accessory connector for a number of accessories, e.g. tour pak spoiler LED, saddlebag spoiler LED's, etc. and the wiring on those hasn't changed.

It's very unlikely that your '06 accessory connector has been changed since it's part of the bike's main wiring harness. More likely is that you haven't located the accessory connector.

Good luck with your project and Merry Christmas.

Carl

My service manual for 2006 shows two wires. But I will check this again.

My MISTAKE. Manual shows four, and lo and behold there are four. My failing eyesight and the acc. location caused me to overlook the correct count.

Thank you.

On my new to me 2006 Ultra Classic, I was trying to plug into the accessory plug for my chrome license plate frame with the two red dual filament lights (mickey mouse ears). I found two plugs... One between the battery and the engine in that space under the end of the tank. This plug had a wire that was activated by the acc switch on the dash, and the rest were dead. There was a plug under the left side panel. This one had a running light and nothing else. When plugged into the deutch connector, the running light on the frame works but nothing else.

Help here??? Did someone rewire my bike before I purchased it? Or am I missing a third accessory plug?

No. You are correct in that the plug in front of the battery is controlled by the Acc switch. The plug under the left side panel is for the ECM. If you had a tuner that's where you would plug it in to record data or monitor the bike as it is running; the dealer plugs his digitech in there as well. I would be real careful about what I plugged in there! Make sure you replace the dust cover.

Advice well received. So, where do I plug the lights to? The plug is a 4-pin square that matches the acc plug. Do I have to rewire and if so, from where?

I so need a manual...
