I have an '07 Street Glide that other than my test rides is brand new to me. I am 5'9" 170lbs, 30" inseam. I have no problem reaching the ground at all. I felt a little close to the handle bars but not uncomfortable. I was riding a Heritage previously and really like the way I was positioned on that bike. I wouldn't mind being a little lower in the bike and would be ok with being a little further back.
So now my issue...
I am looking at a solo seat, mostly for the looks of the bike but it will have to be comfortable. I felt comfortable with the stock seat on it when I test drove but would like to streamline the back of the bike a bit. I love the look of the La Pera solo but I've not heard great things about the comfort. The leaders right now are the C&C (I have access to one for $75) and the Corbin solo.
Here's how you can help (if you care to)!!!
Tell me your height, weight, inseam, what you ride and what kind of solo seat you use . How does it position you on the bike? How comfortable is it...long or short ride. Soft or firm? Anything else you can think of and if you want to add pictures, all the better!
This could be a great comprehensive review of solo seats...and I'll really appreciate it!
5 ft 8 in, 32 " inseam, tried a reach seat, butt ugly made me feel like I was sitting on the gas tank, ended up with a badlander, firm ride not bad on the long haul, consider this a solo as the black maxi pad passenger area there just isn't much seat there, but I don't ride on the back.
2009 Road King lowered in the back 1 inch, Corbin Classic Solo, Heritage Bars. Seat is firm but very comfortable. Ride with a Corbin driver back rest most of the time. Could use a little more pullback on the bars to be 100% Perfect.
The most comfortable, best looking, quick release, adjustable backrest on the market. Combine that with outstanding customer service, quality and price...tough to beat.
I'm 5'8" 165 lbs 30" inseam and have DG Big Seat. It works great for me but I haven't tried any others. I did have the hump in the middle shaved since I didn't like that feel and if you order direct the gal said they could eliminate hump at build so wouldn't cost extra. I got mine on e-bay. Most I rode with DG is about 250 miles but now that it's broke in I think I would use it on solo trips. We use stock seat for two up but just got a sundowner to try. I used stock seat on Saddlesore ride.
5'11", 200lbs, 34 inch inseam. I use forward controls and a HD Brawler seat which is allegedly manufactured by Danny Grey. Comfortable seat and position; I had one on my Fatboy too. I can ride for about 10 hours only stopping for fuel and food without being too stove up at the end of the day; I have arthritis in my back.
I'm 5'5",165lbs.I'm sitting in a Danny Grey Speed Cradle with gel.It drops me an inch at least from stock and doesn't move me back any.I'm very happy with the comfort, quality and look.
