I thought years ago HD would drop the present engine & throw a water cooled more powerfull engine in these bikes. Anyone have any ideas when that is suppose to happen? Love to have goldwing power (HP/TQ not # of cylinders) in my ultra

Funny post!
When? When you lay your tools out and but the parts to make your bike more powerful.
But I suspect you don't have a Harley and you like your goldwing.

actually I am on my 7th Ultra Classic actually, presently a 09 in Red Hot Sunglo...... thank you...... & yes I also own 2 japanese bikes but they are motorcross bikes.... the other american bike I have is a Buell it's so much fun........ you probably already new that though.
Even spending $6K on all the Screaming Eagle stuff the improvement isn't that big at least not w/o making long trips unbearable to the ears.... & even then not really worth it, I looked & took a few for a spin
With the governments EPA ratings I figured they would be forced to change to a water cooled engine vs leaning the engine out, making them larger displacement & making them run hotter. This is actually why I mentioned this, figuring people on this site might have a idea about the future & if the government was pushing them one way or another.
I think there's enough folks like us who insist on the v-twin, air cooled motor that the moco will not try a "new coke" switch anytime soon. Those of you who are wishing for the water cooled bike can get a jump on the rest of us by buying a Gold Wing or something similar right now. Good luck, have fun and I'll still give you a wave when I see you out on the road.
not sure when this will happen but when it does I can see the GW forums now... "yeah but its a water cooled touring bike but its not a wing just another copy"
