I have to agree that sometimes low tech is the easiest and cheapest solution, and I did think about just sticking it in my pocket. However, since I'm no spring chicken any more I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Sh*t). Knowing me I would either drown the e-z pass when i washed the jacket, change jackets and forget I needed to take the e-z pass, or throw the jacket in my truck with the e-z pass in it and then drive down the NY State Thruway and ring the register for both my truck and the bike!
i was told by an toll operator as long as you stay out of the middle of the road when going through the monitors you are fine, so i leave mine in the windshield pouch or in the saddlebags, your tag is registered so there is no problem. jd
I used to keep mine (on my FLHX) in my T-Bags shield pouch with 0 failures (in many different states). In the top of the saddlebag lid, it'd only work on exit ramp coin-grabbers (when you cruise through at 15-20 MPH).
Now with the FLHTC's pizza box, it's on the top of the lid towards the corner and back to 0 failures.
Just my own experiences -- But agreed, as long as you're properly registered, they're just going to pull the $$ from your account if it doesn't trigger the 'open-road' sensors.

Our bikes are very similar in that I have the luggage rack on the box as well. Maybe I'll just attach it in the lid with the arrows pointing up like I originally planned and give that a shot. Doesn't seem like there is a simple solution to the fairing pouch dilema with the GPS mount so this may be the way to go. Thanks!
I also have the HD Fairing Mount for my Garmin 550, and wanted windshield pouches. I got the T-Bag Windshield Bag 4 and sliced the left most bag off. It was very easy to do (2 lines of stitches hold it on). The GPS sits nicely next to the bags, mounting the windshield bag was easy and I have room for EZPass and other small things. I will post pictures later (after my head clears a bit).
