Thinking about getting this Vance and Hines Drak AC. Anyone currently running this? Have question about water entry into AC from the front air screens, not sure if this will be an issue when riding in the rain. I like the look though, how about you?
I like the look but, understand your concerns. A buddy of mine runs with an exposed filter and in the winter covers the filter with a "rain sock" (?) This may be an option with a A/C like this too.
I almost bought the same V&H intake, but ended up liking LA Choppers xXx better (wanted round/exposed look). No need to worry about water intake while riding - most high performance engines inject O2 to add boost. Unless you get caught in monsoon - you're good to go...never had any problems w/mine from cleaning & riding.
I had the S&S dual exposed Air Intake (Kinda like the SE Heavy Breather) on my Fatbob. The only time it was a problem happened in a flashflood (Monsoon!). Just crusing was fine when I would really hammer on it, there was just a slight sputter, back off the throttle to where I should be on wet roads, no problem ran fine.
I run this a/c on my '09 Ultra. I have V&H's headers, mufflers and fuel-pak so was trying to stick to all one brand. I have never had a 'rain' issue although I have the lowers on the Ultra and they do protect it a bit. My only negative is it is a tricky cover to install/remove for filter service, kind of tight. Otherwise great product. You definitely hear the air flow when you roll it on.
I've been looking at the Cobra Power Flow, I like it look of it.
I also like that look but, still wonder about rain water. I do alot of tour miles and sometimes in rain but, get off the road when it's too heavy a rain and especially lightning. Ease of maintenance for cleaning is definitely a concern, just would like to go to something other than the football look.
