With much hesitation after reading about the problems associated with the NIM, I bought one anyway. I was told two weeks ago it would be here today and today I was told that it is on back order and will not be here until January 28th. I'm hoping that it is because they are working out the bugs. To be continued.......
#1 most popular selling Harley item right now I was told. I am #6 in line in backorders for one myself and hoping to get one around the end of this month, first of next month. Also, waiting for the new dual lens headlight, its also a very popular item right now....
I was told if I found a NIM somewhere else and didn't want to wait, pay whatever the price is to get it.....They are few and far between, and demand is THRU THE ROOF!
I got my back ordered module yesterday and am pissed. I went to put it on my bike and the instructions said I need to order a connector kit because I didn't have the required wire loom (35 pin one) on my radio. You would think that the dealer would know this when I ordered the module. Now I have to wait another week on top of the month I waited for the module. And it's supposed to be in the high 70's here this week. Damn!

The only problem I know of is a mistake in the instructions in the early units. All the other problems could be traced to incorrect installations.
Got mine finally. I installed it yesterday evening and it works great! Putting the wires into that 35 pin connector took a little effort, but it went smooth. Very happy so far. Now if it will just quit snowing.................!!!
Got the extra connector today and will install it tomorrow. Sifularson, do you think I will have to switch the order of connectors or will they have fixed that in the instructions?

The incorrect instructions should be out of the system by now. I haven't heard of anyone having issues lately. Hate to say it but you will know right away if you do have problems.
Be sure to test it before you button up the fairing.
PM me if you have any problems and I will try to help.

Sadly, my experience has been that most parts counter staff know very little about many of the accessories they sell when it comes to other non-kit parts needed for the installation so I've found I need to do research (e.g. reading carefully the product description, having the installation instructions printed out for me to review before purchasing the item, etc.) before I purchase accessories
FWIW, the website product description and paper catalog description for the NIM both state the additional harness is required unless you've previously installed the non-Ultra overlay harness.
