I picked up my SG today, slapped a cd in it and the thing skips like crazy. So bad I could not lisyen to it.. Anybody else have this problem? I have the XM radio and will more than likely use it more anyway but I stilll want to be able play a cd if I so choose. Thanks for any insight. Roop
Oh, and before you ask, the cd I used plays fine else where. It is a cd that I have burned but it should play like any store bought cd shouldnt it?
warranty problem - take it back - dealer should deal with it - no problem --- problem is internal in the delay of the signal - mine along with a few other have had this problem.... easy fix...
Is it an audio cd or mp3? I have played both in my 07 Street Glide without any problems. Bumpy roads have not phased it! I am actually impressed. That is hard to do with electronics, I'm somewhat picky. Could be the radio itself, the cd could be defective, bad burn, etc.... Sorry I could not be of more help. Take it back to the dealer.

When burning MP3's for your bike - try burning them at a slower speed. If you burn them at too high a speed, they are prone to skipping. I had that problem with a Sony GTX aftermarket that I had in another bike. I burned them at a slower rate - and that fixed it.
Take it back and make them fix it. And do it quickly. I have a bike that is almost a year old, and the dealers I take it to always "forget" to deal with it. HK units suck. I am at the point now where I will upgrade rather than do the Harley Corporate Shuffle.

That's an interesting solution Trooper. I haven't really had any problems with CD skipping (MP3 or otherwise), but I have a Sony deck in my Glide. I did have some skipping once, but that was because the front header pipe was touching the floorboard, so it would skip - occasionally - around 1500-2000 rpm. Fixed that pretty quick!
As others have said roop, take it back in for warranty work. Sounds like they might not have totally worked all the bugs out of the new HK decks yet. Good luck!
I have honestly never put a cd in mine....However another thing that does work great is to buy an itrip for your ipod. It causes your ipod to broadcast (like a little radio station) to your fm receiver. On my recent trip I was listening to the my ipod's library which for me is a paltry 444 songs, some have many, many more songs on their ipods. I just kept it in my dash pouch and played it whenever the urge hit me. Sorry I can't address your skipping issue but I thought you might be able to use the info. I want to say the itrp I have (no clock etc) was only 25.00 but I cant remember for sure.

The only downside to using an item like the iTrip is the battery usage. I tried one out for my trip from Phx to Vegas (in a rental Xterra) and the battery was almost dead on my 30gb video iPod by the end of the 5 hour drive! He'd be better off getting a direct connection to the aux port, better quality signal anyways that way.
The iPod is the way to go though! I'm trying to decide the best mount and way to plug it into my deck! I like the MP3 Cd capability, but having 150+ songs/CD, or having several thousand that I have on my iPod, it's just easier to carry the iPod!
