Default Aftermarket Windshields

Been a good bit since I've posted here. Working full time for the state and also full time for myself and spending time with the most amazing woman in the world aka wife to be very soon, it's hard to find the time.

None the less, we're planning a trip to North Carolina for our honeymoon at the end of May and one must is a taller windshield. I've read here and there about some of the newer shields but wanted to toss this out there. Presently running a Fastaire 4" and it's been a great shield. I do NOT like to look thru a windshield. I'm 5'10" and change. I'm considering the following brands and not sure about height yet. Surely a DARK shield is a must (personal preference).

Any thoughts or suggestions on windshield height will be a help and something that won't make my head bobble around from buffeting and also protect "width wise". Comments on issues, quality of shield etc are SURELY WANTED!

So appreciate the input and suggestions. Looking forward to the trip and planning and can't wait to "get hitched" and take a nice long ride with my new bride.

I bought a used Roadglide that had a KW 8" on it. Looked good, but the wind noise was deafening. Put a 10" Windvest on it. Like it much better. Had a 6" LRS on my Roadking with a Dragonfly fairing, it did ok also. I'm 5'10" also.

I have had both a Clearview and a Longride Shield which is currently my bike. They are both good shields but the Clearview was more expensive and it took them quite a while to ship it to me. Don't think you will go wrong with either one. Had a Windvest on my previous bike and would probably buy my next one from them.

I voted for other... But with that said I haven't tried them all so how do you really know?

I've tried various heigth of stock type shields and the short HD Windsplitter. I currently have a National Cycle V-Stream that is comparable in heigth to a stock 10 incher and I'm happy with it.

You know that saying that there is no substitute for cubic inches? Well from my experimentation with shields I think they're a bit the same. For maximum wind control, there's no substitute for height!!! If you want to look over the shield, as I do, then you have to sacrifice a little in wind protection.

I have had a clearview for a couple of years on my 08 egc. No buffeting at all. 8" so I can see over it with a dark tint. Does go nice with Vivid black.

I have the KlockWorks 8.5. I'm 5'10" and have the reach seat on mine as well as lowering blocks and it works great for me.

I checked 'other'.... but seeing as I ride behind a sharknose
and you're behind a batwing, my opinion and shield doesn't matter.
None the less, congratulations on the upcoming wedding and be sure
and treat that lady nice and with respect....as she could possibly be the
one changing your Depends and pushing you around in your wheelchair.

I went with the long ride, it was inexpensive and made the ultra look much more sporty, buffeting hasn't been a problem. I would buy from them again.

I have one from I believe http://www.customflhtwindshields.net/ It is 14"tall and extends out the the edge of the fairing. I absolutely love it and hope it will fit the 2010 I am looking at.

Clark's Custom W/S - good people, nice variety.
I have the LRS 10" tinted currently, it is my fav, so far.
I had ClearView's on my Metrics, very nice - but I looked through that one.
