Default Progressive Shock Springs

How do I know what springs mine came with and where on Earth do you buy heavier springs for Progressive 440's? Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Progressive Shock Springs

The model number on the box will indicate what springs came installed. On my Ultra there are two choices standard which 95/140 or HD 105/150. I think these numbers are right. My springs came with a little sticker on the spring indicating the type. A word to the wise I often ride two up and about 400 lbs, even while loaded for touring the HD springs were too much and when adjusted up so they would not bottom the ride was rough. Better IMHO to just increase the preload 6-8 turns up and still keep the softer ride. Another thing I need to pass along. If you seem to expienence the shock bottoming out on smallish sharp edged bumps my friend who has ridden over 50,000 miles with 440's says that is a characteristic of this shock and he says it is not bottoming but we suspect it has something to do with the internal damping check ball that actually prevents bottoming.
