First post for me- Just took the plunge on a NEW 2011 FLHTK limited Cool Blue Pearl/Vivid Black.. Feel like a kid on Christmas morning.
Had a few bikes over the MANY years of riding, but this is the first Harley. BSA Hondas, Kaw Nomad, and just before this one - a goldwing.. The wing is a mechanical marvel- but no pizazzz. Like starting a dishwasher. Sat me up too upright, even with higheway pegs- felt like I was in the saddle giving birth. Spread eagle..Anyway- sold it and got something that has some life..No boring here.. Paid for it..(well- me and the bank) and will pick up on Thursday. Any pointers from you "Experts" is welcomed.

HI FLpostman,
Welcome to the family!!! I got my first harley 2011 Ultra limited in Sept 2010. Like you, I graduated from 2002 G/w. I'm loving it!! However, I felt like a kid in first grade going from a V6 to a Vtwin. My best advice is to take it out in a parking lot and get used to the handling. It handles so much differently than the goldwing. Also, get use to the engine sounds. For instance turning the Temperature sensor (setting that shuts down a cylinder at idle) off and on. I made that mistake and got stuck in traffic and thought something was wrong with the motor (newbie mistake).
I think I've also set a record for the number of questions I've asked. This forum and my dealer has really helped. I'm looking at doing the stage 1 upgrade, so now I'm going nuts trying to figure it whether to go with the SE (Screaming Eagles) something else.
Ok, I'll shut up. It's a beautiful bike and I love mine, so enjoy yours!!!
No new pics yet- don't take delivery until Thursday. The dealership had to go to another town to pick up. Martin Luther King Day tomorrow, pleaces closed..so Thursday is soonest I can pick up... THEN I'll post pics..Just pacing floor in meantime..

Congratulation on the new bike. Bought a 2011 Limited and waiting for it to come in and for it to warm up. Whole bunch of stuff waiting to be installed. Some just ride it the way it is. Some like to do motor work. Do a search and you will find a lot of help here. Guys have done all sort of mods. Some very creative. Good Luck and enjoy your new bike.
I wish there was a downloadable manual --I could at least read about it and learn. All I have is the paperwork, and my "FREE" $24,000 T-shirt..hahahhahaa

Enjoy! I had and sold an 05 Wing for all the same reasons in 07.Traded my 07 Ultra classic on this 2011 Limited. With the improvements I've made it is the closest thing to the Wing overall and way more fun..
I just picked up a used Limited a couple of weeks ago. With the snow outside it's killing me as I have only put about 10 miles on it in 20 degree weather here in Illinois. Congrats on the new bike you will love it!
The dealership where I bought (Gator Harley Leesburg, FL) has something going on just about every weekend. A ride or benefit or somethbing. They are one class act!! This will let me know what other riders do, how the pipes sound, etc- what works- what don't, cause there's always lots of bikes there. Can't wait..
Nice choice for a new bike - congrats. And I'm jealous that you live in an area where you can ride all year (our FLHTK has a total of 198 miles on it since we got it. Winter...blah!). Here's a pointer for you - stop reading this forum ... right now. These people here have caused me to spend a whole lot of money on things I didn't know I needed - like those locking lower faring doors I'm looking at...
