A while back I checked in with a long list of problems with my 09 Ultra that included the starter going out, the compensator as well and oil blow by dripping off the air cleaner filter. It turned out S&S had a ring land design problem with the 106 and they ended up sending new pistons, gaskets, rings etc and ate the labor at the local HD dealer. She hit the shop just a few days before Xmas and I should be getting her back in a day or two. There won't be a dyno run since around the first of December we did that to re map a pinging problem.
I have read about breaking in a new motor with non synthetic oil for a couple hundred miles but I bet the shop will use HD synthetic. Does it really matter that much on break in between synthetic and non? Probalby on the way home I plan to go out and wick it from 30 mph to 60 mph a few times and call it good, hoping all will be ok with the syn oil. Then vary the rpm for a couple hundred and then be done.........so far so good??
I also got the compensator and starter taken care of (starter was warranty and compensator was cost of part) plus compression releases (I ate that one)
Thanks
