I performed the 8.11 upgrade and you could hear the radio barely playing in the background like it had turned itself on. Now the radio display will come on by itself and show the stations but no volume. Turn the radio off and back on it works fine??? Tried doing a reset and it resets the presets, bass, and treble, but the software is still 8.11 Can it be reset to the factory settings and reflashed? Thanks in advance.
I went into the "hold two soft keys down and turn the ignition to accesory" mode. It had a reset option to press SK1 I did that and it just clears the presets. I have the service manual and its of no help. I there a second reset option? I would like to dump the upgrades and start from scratch.
heres a guess. If you still have the previous version on a cd try installing it and see if it takes it. If you cant find it email me and I'll email 8.9 to you.
When I got home this afternoon I did a reset and pulled the maxifuse for an hour and the stupid radio still said 8.11. I put the 8.11 disk in again and it did the update again and it seemed like it went thru the process smoother this time. It seems to work ok now.
The 8.11 sounds tinny to me. They really cranked up the highs. I liked 8.9 better than 8.4, but I'm not impressed with 8.11. I found out about it last week.

What is SK1? Mine is telling me to do the same thing.

SK = Soft Key
From wikipedia
A soft key is a button flexibly programmable to invoke any of a number of functions rather than being associated with a single fixed function or a fixed set of functions. A soft key is often located alongside a display device of a portable device such as a cellular phone, where the button invokes a function described by the text at that moment shown adjacent to the button on the display. However, soft keys are also found away from the display device, for example on the sides of cellular phones, where they are typically programmed to invoke functions such as PTT, memo, or volume control. Soft keys are generally found on keyboards (e.g. the F keys), cellular phones, Automated Teller Machines, Primary Flight and Multi-Function Displays, although they are also found elsewhere. Hard key is the contrary term, which means a hard-coded key such as a number key pad or the Send/End key of a mobile phone. Depending on the development company, cellular phone soft keys are often called F1(Left), F2(Right).
