I know it takes a special socket to loosen the passing lamps.
Stop by any of the cheap tool supply places and pickup a 9/16 or 14mm size socket and break out your cut-off tool or dremel and cut a slot in the side of the socket for the wire to go thru and adjust away!
I am impressed with the low beam/passing lights but when going to high beam without the passing lights, it's better then stock but not the level of improvement I observed comparing low beam. However, I just installed them the night before and have had very limited night time riding so far, I find myself wanting to keep lowering the headlight adjustment in order to see the high beam's light path better. That huge peripheral room of light that the passing lights provide during low beam is really missed when going to high beam, I plan on re-wiring so the passing lights stay on to solve that problem.

its hard to explain, but i wasnt too impressed with the LED light. maybe its an installer error (which i have been known to do) but i tried adjusting it and i just cant seem to see a 500 dollar benefit...
I did the rewire too, took it out at night on a deserted road. I have a center stand so it is easy to stand the bike up and get off to adjust. Took a couple tries until I got it the way I wanted. Night vision is very good
I have the Truck Lite Phase 7 LED's and have done this mod. Man is it bright out in front of me.
Regarding aiming I followed the manual and wasn't really happy with the output so I played around till I got it where I liked it. Not horribly different then the manual recommendations but different none the less. There is a noticeable difference in the light pattern between the halogen bulbs and the LEDs.
As far as the passing lamp aiming I set them to where I need the light. I ride in rural areas where the critters like to hang out on the side of the road. Having already hit a deer once, I'd rather not do it again. So my right side lamp is aimed towards the shoulder slightly.
I've never had anyone flash their brights at me so I'm guessing the aiming is not bothering on coming traffic and I can see just fine
Thanks. That helps. Ilove these LED lamps and the low beam plus passing lamps are BRIGHT. looking forward to having both sets working on High Beam too.
I have the Phase 7 lamp and plan to install it in the next few days. I'll try aiming it the conventional way on low beam on a line 2" below laden headlight height at distance of 17'. See how that goes.....
