Well let's look at it from another view point. He's willing to trade a 40k bike that is good for looking at and short trips for one that's a freaking Kang of the Road!!! You'd really regret making that decision, but I admit it's probably fun to think about.

Something else you have to think about is that if something breaks, you can't always just go pull parts off the shelf to fix it. You may have to fab parts up from scratch or cut/modify things. Sometimes it's trial and error, and wasted $$$$. Custom builds are expensive to maintain.

Why would he take your RK for some thing he has 40K in if it was not to HIS advantage to do so. Look at it from his point of view. He would be getting the better end of the deal, not you.

If your getting younger every day, instead of older, it could work. Most of us are getting older and appreciate the comfort level. But the choppers do look cool. Think it over some more, good luck with your decision

You can’t beat a chopper for looks & the wow factor, but be prepared to work on your bike. Not all choppers are a rough ride, you will have to ride it & decide for yourself & make up your own mind on that one

Personally, no way for me. I also think you'll regret it. A chopper for a second bike is one thing. But as the main ride no thanks.

If he won't let you ride it for a day or at least a long ride... There's your sign.

When your buddy is done trading with you, he will have a chopper AND a touring bike. What will you have?
