I have been looking for a solid mount rack for two up on the 09 and newer bikes. All I can seem to find are detachable. I'm not interested in a backrest just a rack. I want to have room for a bag on the rack and sleeping bag and tent between the bag and me. Has anyone seen one of these? I don't want to spend $350 on a rack and a detach kit. Anyone tried making their own? If i was a little more handy I might give it a go myself.
You could find a 09 and newer tour pack mount and use it as a rack. It might not look the best, but it would be functional and cheap. You would have to get the frame covers that go with the rack also.

I might just do that. It doesn't matter to me if it would take some extra time to install it. I would only have it installed on the bike on multiple day trips anyway.

I did pick up a tour pack rack off ebay for a decent price. Now I just need to get the frame mount covers or whatever is necessary to mount the rack to the frame. Does anyone have the part numbers for what is needed? Here is a pic of the rack.
The frame covers are the same as yours except they have slots cut out for the rack. I've seen them go for $5.00 on eBay. You will have to be patient to get them for that price.

Thanks for the suggestion on the tour pack rack and replying with the part numbers. I will keep an eye out for those.
Pick up a removable tour pak mount and I'll sell you this bolt on rack for $35 shipped and your be set. I ran this set up on my SG until I got a tour pak.

I have been looking for the frame covers. There is definitely some available but unless i can find them for $20-$30 shipped i will just go with out. I installed the rack with out them to see what it would look like and it looks fine to me. Since I am only going to use the rack on Multiple day trips I can just go without the covers. It is taking me less than 10 minutes to remove the bags, remove the covers and install the rack and bags back on to the bike. That includes using the brukus security bolts for the bags.

I picked up a rigid tour pack rack. I am currently making a similar rack out of oak that I can just bolt on to the tour pack rack. Thank you for the offer though.
