Well, just got back from the dealer. What else do you do in 2 feet of snow.
Delivery of my 2011 Vivid Black Ultra Classic is set for mid April, so I was there putting a plan together for the work I want done on her right outta the crate. Plan is to do the Stage 1 with Vance& Hines True dual Head pipes (to get rid of the cat)and Kerker 4" Stout Slip-ons. Run her for the break in period, then take her back(before 60 days, so everything is under warrenty) do the 103" big bore with H-D's street tuner. Still grinding around the idea of getting the heads done at the same time. Any suggestions and or do's or dont's are appreciated.I can hardly wait till April. Moving up to the Ultra from my 05 Heritage Classic which I love . I'm doing alot more trips two-up and I'm sure I'll be Thrilled with the ride. My Heritage had the 95" Big bore done on it and I was thrlled with the results 97tq/89hp. Any one used V&H headpipes yet! Just curious. Thanks
This is just one opinion, I would do all I can the first time around. I went from 96 to 106 with 251 cams, a super tuner and V & H Monster Ovals and stock head pipes. Wish I had done the heads then. Later added the V & H X pipe configuration with their head pipe and got nothing. Have also been told the stock head pipe delivers pretty well, the V & H is bigger and diminishes the exhaust back flow. Seems like tq and hp per dollar ration goes down after that first big lick.
V&H Mosters are not real loud but do sound pretty good. My Ultra is black and I went with the black tips. Was bumping 95 hp but haven't had a dyno run with the 103 jugs.
Just so you know, I first said I went with a 106 kit, I currently am running a 103.........long story, not for this thread
Welcome to the batwing crowd. You are going to love it. Ridin and rockin is awesome. Stay safe when you do pick up your new machine. I got 700 miles on mine in 9 days when I picked her up on R&R from Iraq. I will be reaquainted with her in mid April also. Cant wait. 69 Days to go in the big sandbox, WOOHOOO.
Thanks for the advice Keith T, always something to ponder. Not trying to build a race bike, just a good strong machine. Your set up sounds pretty solid. I have to many options and not enough brain power. First my67pnycar, let me thank you for all your doing over there, hope the time fly's and you'll be home riding. Thanks, looking forward to the new ride and all the upgradeing lol.
Just remember a HD Street Tuner can only be used to load EPA legal HD factory approved tunes. Your bike will still run very hot and may ping on deaccel...
I wondered about that.It used to called a race tuner in 05 when I put it on my heritage, now it"s a street tuner. I'll check into it and maybe use something else. Thanks
