I personally like sum of the 30" bikes... I can say its dumb to even complain about someone else's bike, but im not here to judge or be judged... it simply comes down to personal preference, but don't rag on someone else's ride, its not cool.
But if everybody rode a black Road King that would suck. And sometimes it feels like everybody is riding a black Road King. Thank God for Street Glides...now everybody has one of those instead!
What a bunch of b!tches. These are show bikes for chrissakes. These are showbikes and yes, probably won't see a lot their owners doing cross country rides on their 30" wheels. For those that can afford those bikes, I'm sure they have a few others they could chose to ride for when they want to log some miles.
Most of these should be looked at as works of art. These are the builder's or owner's rendition of their artistic tastes applied to a motorcycle. Not saying it's my taste either, but some people like them. Hell, some people like Pabst Blue Ribbon but I'm not judging.
And since it is art, it's going to get polarizing views. No big deal, you either like it or you don't. Move on and complain about something else. Someone thinks it's pretty damn sick and paid a crap ton of money for it.

Agree! I listened to all the crap when I first had a 21" on my first SG back in 2007... didnt bother me I like it! And I did the same thing on my 10 SG. I like the looks of the big (ger) wheels also... I just dont want to shell out the $7-$10K on that set up... but I'm glad some others do! Your money, your bike, do what you want and F^@k what everyone thinks about it!
i bought a shark to be different..too many street glides now a days..i had to get rid of mine..but there again i like to be different...
now on the 30 yes its excessive...however you dont see these builders building them to go from maine to alaska either...there show bikes...
its no different than the guy that buys a new superduty and puts it on airbags and 49 iroc super swampers..he isnt driving stupid long distances either even to the jamboree nationals hes riding on a trailer...
to each thier own thats what makes this sport great so many differnt ways you can go!
To me,it's function over form. A vehicle has to be able to perform it's primary function, which is to move a person,or people from point A to point B, even if A is Miami & B is Fairbanks. If it cannot do that efficiently & comfortably, but looks "pretty", then it's totally useless (kinda like a real HOTT lesbo) & IMHO, loses all it's aesthetic appeal no matter how fantastic the build is, and should be dismantled & built to be used. Good example is this. I think a NightTrain looks better than a RoadKing, but because a RoadKing performs it's function better than a NightTrain (long distance comfort) it has become more aesthetically pleasing to me than a NightTrain. Which is why I now own a RKC & no longer have a NightTrain. However, if I lived on say,Hawaii, where coast to coast is only a few miles, the NightTrain would be my first choice & be more appealing. In that case, you could choose form over function.
Problem is, when you do something to be different, aren't you really being just like everybody else, since EVERYBODY wants to be "different"?
If ya really wanna be different, do what you want, whether anyone else is doing it or not. Don't eschew the SG jsut to be different if you really LIKE the SG.
