I went throught the buffiting fight trying to get that calm pocket of air we all want behind the fairing, The last thing that went on was the fork mounted air deflectors and they gave me the calm pocket I wanted. The fairing mounted deflectors are Freedom Wings and I'm happy to have them. when it get hot i can use them to actually dirrect air on me.
Thanks TR...

I love riding without the shield or fairing, i love riding with the shield or fairing, it takes me longer to retrieve the socket to loosen the fairing brackets for removal than it takes to remove the fairing, its a 5 minute process. so dress the bike to the ride.

Rapier how removable are the lowers?

I had planned on putting on a fairing - but after reading all the issues of wind turbulence I decided against it. I have ridden a couple of bikes with fixed fairings and just could not get used to the buffeting.

The windshield gives a much "smoother" ride IMO

If I need hand protection - I'll buy some type of temporary cover for clutch and brake

For a radio - I'll use an Ipod

I went with the street glide fairing option and installed all gauges, stereo. It was fun doing it,but do your homework on the wiring. I really like it, no regrets. It cost me about $1800.To fairing or not to Fairing my Road King-img_0019.jpg

This is one of the benefits of the Klock Werks Billboard Flare windshield.. I guess I should write up a review.

+1 on this. For commuting purposes, I will use mine when the temperature gets in to the 40s and below. Anything warmer and I like the open feel of the removable windshield. While touring I always go with the windshield. I almost wish I had not spent the money on the fairing.

I am going to check in to one of those Klock Werks Billboard windshields. Looks like that may just be the ticket!

I have a Hoppe Quadzilla on mine - I love it and would recommend it every time over the others.

I've got the quadzilla on my King for 2 years now. I originally bought it for the look (guess I wanted a S/G) and the tunes. Never a problem with the speakers by the way and they sound great. Having never riden with a fairing (I hated the windshield!!)I will admit it did take a little getting used to. It's a quick detacable with a water tight quick connect electrical hookup but Now that it's on it's not coming off.

I get a kick out of going to local runs and meets and seeing all the guys walk by my bike and then stop short and turn to tell me "Holy **** it's a Roadking!"

I picked up a used Dead Center Cycles fairing, already painted vivid black to match my bike, I absolutely love having tunes and the wind protection. 4-5 months now and I've yet to remove it.
